  • Drinking and Driving is against the law and the limit of alcohol is 0.5gm/l, which is lower  than in UK. Any fines must be paid on the spot.
  • Driving Licenses valid in Portugal:

    • easy to fill up with petrol if you are on the main roads, but petrol stations are sparse in some inland regions.
    • Unleaded petrol is generally available everywhere.

    • Compulsory  for Adults
    • Children  under 12 must sit in the back.
  • Speed limits :
    • motorways: 120kmh/75mph
    • highways:     100kmh/62mph
    • other roads:   90kmh/56mph
    • built up areas: 50kmh/31mph
